hello, all of my corals show growth, except the duncan. i have a duncan frag that has 2 heads on it, i have had it about 2 months and it hasnt grown any new heads, i target feed with reefroids, do 10% water change weekly, salinity at 1.023-1.025, all of the parameters are good on the test strips. what can i do to get him to grow more heads?

Got any pics? Have you noticed any bumps or stubs on the stalks of the Duncans? That's usually a new head starting to form. Takes a while for them to fully bud but when they do, your Duncan can look like it doubled in size! Just be patient and keep feeding them! :D

no lumps, no bumps, when it is happy the two heads that are on there swell and get huge, this is a pic shortly after feeding so they look small but its the best pic I have of the stem.

These are my Duncans thanks to some guys on this site that helped me identify it, I purchased a frag with 2 heads also and 3 weeks later I have 7 heads, I'm not sure as to what's helped them grow but all I can say is keep checking your levels or maybe think about maybe placing them somewhere else, Duncans perfer a less steady flow also I've read they like moderate to high lighting but I found that giving them just moderate lighting is enough, I'm not sure if this helps but I wish you the best of luck!

Hmm interesting. My Duncan hasn't opened in 2 months. It barely pops the polyp past the rim. The base is bright green and obviously isnt dying but no matter where I put it in my tank it wont open up. I've had it high, mid and now its low. Cant figure out what it wants. Lol So I'm in the same boat as you.

Mine came as a 2 head. I split them after a month and glued them down. They stalled at first but really took off. Little over 3 months growth from when buds first appeared. For me, and Im sure its different tank to tank, but they dont seem to like a ton of flow.

Have you tried dipping the coral?.. Maybe it might help it destress, sometimes corals are just stressed and can take while before they open, I've had this happen with zoanthids.

Agree with others on feeding meaty foods. Maybe yours were freshly grown/cut heads from another mother colony. Just give it time and love. They'll grow. You gotta update us when they do! :D

What are you using for lighting?
How deep in the tank is it?

And like @Ascape said, I found they don’t like strong flow, but they stay closed when that’s the problem.

2 months may be a little soon for it to grow, maybe it just needs more time.

I have a 10gallon nano with an AI Prime.
This Duncan started as 2 heads 2 years ago.
Mine grew without me feeding it, but it sped up after I started feeding about 6 months ago
