Duncan sweepers?

Are these sweepers on my Duncan? I’ve had Duncan’s for 3 years and have a much larger colony that I’ve never seen this from but this one does it every evening, I thought it was some kind of slime but my purple monsters nearby have been staying closed and I’m thinking that these are sweepers now, which I didn’t even know Duncan’s had

I have never seen my Duncan put out sweeper tentacles like that. They're a very non-aggressive LPS. It's possible those are mesenterial filaments, but they look kinda slimy. Are they?

They do appear slimy, and I have seen my clown knock one off before

I haven’t either, and my other 30 head Duncan has never had anything that looks like this, but this one does every evening, and my zoas definitely close up when they touch them

I've only had my duncan for about a month or so. Started out as 7 heads, now it has twice that many. I've never seen any sweepers but it has put out some mucous slime a couple times. Once after being dipped and other times when I've tried feeding it reef roids or similar.

My duncan seems to prefer meaty foods. Brine/mysis shrimp and chunks of oyster. I stopped trying to feed it reefroids.

Could it just be defensive mucous? Are you feeding before it does this?

No, when the Duncan closes all the way up at night I can see the entire top, no vermetids there.

It could be , I feed reef frenzy shortly before this in the evening, also my clown likes to bother this one sometimes

Can you see any trapped particles of food in the slime?
Does it blow off with a turkey baster ?

I haven’t tried blowing them off, I will tommorow, it’s lights out in the tank now and they are gone

I don’t think so , it’s not like something blowing into the water , just strings that stay attached

I’m leaning toward slime, just weird that it’s every day at the same time, unless it’s a response to me feeding the tank shortly before this, it definitely bothers my zoas tho, so this Duncan is probably getting relocated.

Anyone else think that looks a tiny bit like a Galaxia and not a Duncan? It’s a bit closed up in the pictures, so it’s hard to confirm the species is actually a Duncan. Just comparing the size of the heads to the Candy Cane in the photo, it doesn’t look quite right.
