I`m picking up some duncans tomorrow. They will be sitting under 250 mh. The tank is 2 feet deep. Do they have to sit in sand bed or can they be incorporated some what off the bottom into the rock work ?

Keep them modderate light mod flow

Start them low and then you can just about keep them anywhere. i say mid level is best as Phil said.
