So this is my first durso overflow. My other tanks were custom bean animal and returns were all plumbed behind tank. My question is on the return pipe do you guys glue it into the bh? It’s a tight fit but I’m thinking glue.

Thanks
KZ

NO GLUE!!!!!

Think about it, if it leaks, it's just leaking into you sump....But it's not going to leak.

Prolonged power outage and a sump below that can’t handle the additional water trickling down thru the unglued base of the pipe, from the overflow box, are the worst case scenario. But I don’t think you will have a catastrophic flood if you don’t glue it.

Just to be clear, we are talking about the durso pipe inside an overflow. If that is the case, a power failure and leaking durso would only be the amount of water to drop below the saw-teeth of the overflow....less than a cup of water.

If you're talking about the pipe below the tank/bulkhead, that needs to be glued.

Thanks guys. Ya I’m talking about the return pipe inside the overflow. I’m not worried about a flood etc. was just wondering what everyone does. The drain I was definitely not gluing. Absolutely everything under the tank gets glued.
