So I've moved my 60 cube I bought a new one drilled previous one had HOB overflow it worked great but was worried about leaks as everyone says it's guaranteed to happen. I got the tank drilled 2 holes internal overflow plumbed using durso stand pipe first time setting this up. I'm now getting some brown film over the top of the water due to no surface skim is there anyway to fix this? My intake is about 2 inches submerged

hard to see film but those bubbles are floating around. Also is there a way to get more flow down to the sump?

I think you are in trouble. I did the same thing, and then finally figured out that the Durzo design is intended for the plumping inside the overflow box. So all the water drained through the nice quiet Durzo, has already been skimmed of the DT surface. maybe you could build a short overflow box and glue/weld it on to the rear wall or the DT. Good luck.

It looks like your water level is the same in the tank as it is in the over flow. Just shorten the standpipe about a 1/2" at a time until I gets just right. The top of my durst is level with the rim of the over flow. The I just adjust my return until the flows are equalized.

Yes that way the top of the water is skimmed and send the protein off the top of the water down where he skimmer can pull it out. The over flow will become noisier, hence the reason to go 1/2" at a time.

Here's mine.

Ah ok I seen online that my water level in tank would sit on top of my 90 I was worried to put it too low, better too low than high I guess

The water should sit on top of the 90 but the 90 should be lower. Yours is setup right just lower it a bit. Also if you add a airline valve to the hole in the top you can fine tune it so you don't get the gurgle of bubbles

Yea I've got that part down mine is quiet now but might have to mess with it once it's lower... Have you seen any plumbing parts with a knob to turn rather than drilling wholes my local plumbing store couldn't find me anything

My bad. I thought you did not already have an overflow box in the tank. ReelRednekReef gave a wonderful explanation. Great photos from you both.
