Hey guys, i recently changed my return line and overflow drain and now the waterline in the overflow only just sits above the pvc and is gurgling etc. Will a durso standpipe fix this problem? Shoud i match the pvc size with one thats already in overflow or use a joiner to increase the size?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

You may need a little more flow into the box to get the water level higher for a durso fitting to work, though. Can you increase your return pumps's flow? It's worth a try as is. It might work.

Thanks guys, i didnt change the pump just the return lines and drain pipes + installed a ball gate valve. Chekd for faults in the valve and everything seemed fine. Unfortunatly i cant adjust the pump as it just a aqua 1 pump rated at 2200lph. Should i increase the size of the pvc or match it to make the durso. I heard going from smaller to larger helps with noise reduction but im also wondering if a bigger pvc durso will fit in the overflow.

Weird thing is it seemed to fine before changing all the piping. The water sat about 1/2- 3/4 the way up the overflow and was stable. Now Its still stable but way to low. For the $15 or so it will cost think il just give it a crack.

A durso could be more quiet, but it's still an open drain and can make noise. you'd need a full siphon drain like the Herbie to get it dead silent.

+1

If flow is slow enough then the durso can be quiet, but nothing beats the Herbie/Bean. Very quiet. With Bean or Herbie, you can also control the height of water in the tank.
