So I have a standard 125 gal with two durso drains. All of a sudden one started gurgling loudly. Like siphoning every Few seconds. What is generally the cause? Clogged pipes? Something else? Don’t want to start tinkering with pipe height etc until I eliminate some common reasons. Been running quietly for over year and half. Thanks in advance.

Might be the air intake hole that has salty creep.

I can hear mine when it needs cleaning cause it sounds like a whistle

Could be any number of things. Main pump is dirty or is failing. Air vent hole is clogged. Durso pipes or screen (if you use one) have schmutz build up.

If you have two and only one is gurgling, I'd check the other one that isn't gurgling. If that one slowed down, more water is going to end up doing down the second one.

If you have two dursos it might be worth considering moving to a herbie.

thanks all, overall concensus is that it is time for a good overall cleaning. lol At least first step.
