As the title says, I'm wanting to convert a durso overflow to a herbie overflow. I've done a lot of searching through various forums but haven't exactly found a clear answer. Maybe someone can simply direct me to another posting.

Here is my current setup:
125 gallon with an overflow box in each corner. Each box has two 1" holes. My tank sits in an an open area where you can see all four sides of the aquarium. The standard answer I find is to run my return line behind the tank, then up and over the top. However I don't want to see PVC pipe so everything needs to be contained within the overflow boxes. What's the best setup?

Here's what I'm thinking:
Left overflow box - one return line and the herbie's full siphon line.
Right overflow box - second return line and the herbie's emergency line.

OR

Left overflow box - one return line and the herbie's full siphon line.
Right overflow box - second full siphon line and the emergency line.

I do like the idea of having two return lines because that helps keep the surface of the water moving better. On the other hand, two full siphon lines obviously increases my GPH thru my sump.

Any issues with either of these setups? Or is there a better way?

you don't really need an insane amount of flow through your sump. we all set things up differently but I try to match my overflow/return with my skimmer if not just below what my skimmer runs. so in the end thats what I suggest you look at. if you can run a single full syphon, 1 drip/emergency and 2 returns run with it. if not run 2 full syphon and 1 emergency/drip. I always keep the drip at a slow drip. still silent but its just above what the full syphon can pull this way theres a steady amount of water in the overflow box and sump and it doesn't go up and down. but either of your setups will work.
