Hey all, I’m not new to salt water but I’m pretty new to modern and non-AIO setups. I have a 55g (lol it’s 46g bowfront I foolishly trusted the guy) and it’s your typical reef ready tank with a huge and ugly overflow in the middle. 3/4 and 1” holes for durso and return.

Point is, I have the bulkheads and gate valves on order. Had to rebuild the stand as it’s hammered from saltwater abuse (don’t mix with pressboard). I have the prebuilt piping for Durso. Is it really worth piping over the outside for the return to implement the Herbie overflow?

Assuming so, anyone have a place that shows a decent “reef ready” to Herbie walkthrough?

Just did this on a reef ready 75 gallon. Check out my build thread. I feel much better about it not overflowing on the floor. I tested it over and over with "power failures" (unplugged it) then turned it back on at full steam. It performed perfectly.
