Can I have a Dwarf Angel (probably a Flame or Bicolor) and a Kole Tang in a 65 gallon tank?

In my 65 I had a Kole Tang that was extremely aggressive towards any other algae eaters. He wanted my Tailspot Blenny dead and would go after my wrasses when they picked the rocks. The tank was too small for him even though he was about 3”. Expect major aggression issues with those two together.

Maybe the dwarf angel. All angels are considered reef safe with caution and most members will tell you its 50/50 and tell u stories of an angel being fine for years then going rogue over night.

Personally a lot has to do,with the specific angel, coral beauty and flame angels are a much safer bet than a lemonpeel or eibili. Also keeping them well fed and have a lot of corals so no one gets too much attention. Most angels eat mucous off the coral and not the actual polyp, if you have 1 coral and it picks on it constantly the coral will be too stressed. If you have 100 corals to spread the love things work out much better.

I kept a flame with sps, softies, lps, and mushrooms. Only coral I couldn't keep with him was a fungia plate and acans but everything else was good. I wouldn't keep an angel in anything but a reef, that is their natural habitat and there is a lot of food sources and diversity in a reef to help them fare better. COPPS totm write up has always been an inspiration to me and I can only hope to be 10% as successful as he has with hard to keep species in reef tanks.

A kole tang isn’t the best fit for that size tank. I’d go with just an angel. If you do decide to go with both though, add them at the same time and they should be the last additions to the tank as they both are prone to being aggressive to new additions. I added a kole tang and then a flame angel a month later and he harassed her the first couple days. They are fine now though. But in a smaller tank the kole tang will be even more aggressive because of the lack of space
