I am deciding on what fish to stock my new 50 gal reef tank with. I would like a Dwarf Angel but I keep seeing add with caution. Does anyone have any experiences with Dwarf Angels in a Reef tank they could share?

Thanks,

Brad

I am a long time reefer and in researching the same topic found that it is hit or miss, but also, there are some general opinions that some are safer than others. I landed on a Coral Beauty and it’s been a perfect citizen for over a year now. For reference, I have a 65G mixed reef with about 2 dozen species of coral.

Again, this is just one person’s experience, not a guarantee. Good luck!

They all say with caution but I have a coral beauty, flame and potters and none of them could care less about coral

Coral beauty here.

It has not touched my squamosa clam, LPS, SPS, or Zoas.

I’ve also had a cream angel before which left corals alone.

I have a Pygmy Lemon Peel in my office tank. She eats aiptasia, luckily, but nips at bubble tip anemones and toadstools. I never kept her in my sps tank since my gut tells me she would readily nip at polyps. She did devour every trace of Xenia as well.

It’s a hit or miss. You will know soon enough. Had a flame and had to get rid of it. Nipped at all my sps.

I have a flame back angel in my 90g with a wide variety of corals; softies, gorgs, lps and sps and so far so good. Though it’s only been in the tank for about a month but I’ve never seen it touch any of the corals.

My tiger pyge takes a nip of my dendros and acans from time to time but never enough to hurt the colony its almost like he does it just to make them mad lol

Angels, just liek us humans have our own individual personalities. What works for one reefer, may niot work for another.

With that said, I've had flame backs that were model citizens, and others that were complete coral devourerers.

I currently have a lemon peel that doesn't even look at my corals.
