I am thinking about making my new Biocube a lionfish only tank

I want black sand, a few rock in the center with caves and one led light.

No coral.

Anyone done this before?

I'd like to have a dwarf zebra lion and a dwarf fuzzy lion but I know I probably can only have 1 in a Biocube 29.

I have a 29 gallon tank with a dwarf fuzzy lion fish. I recommend feeding them some live and frozen ghost shrimp. What I did with the frozen ghost shrimp was put it on a stick, and wave it around to make the fish think it is alive. Or just take some frozen jumbo Mysis shrimp and wave it around. I personally like to add coral (even though they don't hang out by it) just to make my tank look nice. And I was able to put two in my tank at one point until they grew. So just start off with one. Thats all I got. Good luck!

Awesome thank you!
I'm leaning more towards a dwarf zebra lionfish since they move more. And I'm not worried about coral right now due to the cost of lighting. I have a Coralife Biocube 29 with coral I started about a month ago that I bought all brand new and have over $600 in it. And that's with a DIY stand for $90. I bought this Oceanic Biocube off a app for $40. Came with tank, base rock, pump. No leaks but the hood was messed up and the lights were missing. So I removed the top to make it a rimless. So I'm gonna wait on spending money for a good coral light but would rather have just a lionfish with black sand and some white base rock with a blue led shining onto the rock work. Kind of a dark mysterious predator tank.

I have never had a dwarf zebra lion fish. I have only had a dwarf fuzz and a fu manchu lion fish. I really want another one. Hope all goes well!

Thanks for your information.

I'll post pics along the way.

I just cleaned the tank and did the leak test.

I kept a fuzzy and a fu in a 30 for 2 years and they seemed happy enough. But a zebra is much more active than a fu, although my fu is a beast. I probably wouldn't do a fuzzy and a zebra in a 29. Here's my fuzzy and zebra together, some say they are difficult to settle, but I feed my lions live food. Here's my biocube 29, I added an ecoxitic stunner led strip between the flourescents. I grew all these corals with the stock setup, the leds just added some color pop.

I wish my sand would stay looking that good. I'm battling cyano and diatoms. I have 5 blue legged hermets that cleaned up the first diatom outbreak but it has since come back and they haven't come off the rockscape.
