Dwarf Seahorse Questions

Hey guys, I have a 8 gallon biocube that i have had running for 6-7 months with nothing in it.
So I am planning on doing a dwarf seahorse tank with it. I am going to add gorgs for hitching I have a
purple lace, yellow finger and red finger that are waiting to be added, and i am planning on getting a red sea fan, blueberry gorg, and orange tree gorg to add as well.
I need some advice on where to order from, as well as how many to get in my order to start out with. I have heard mixed answers
ranging from 2 pair to 30 horses in an 8 gallon. That's a big difference in number! Also any other advice would be
greatly appreciated!

Awesome! I would go with about 6-8 seahorses to start off. The reason I say this is that dwarf seahorses reproduce very quickly and the fry have a very good chance at surviving. Have you thought of how you are going to feed them? They only eat live brine shrimp. You would have to hatch your own shrimp to feed them.

The gorgs will make a great hitch for them.

Also, make sure that any equipment that they may hitch on is covered to protect the seahorses. This will also prevent them from being sucked into the filter.

As far as ordering, I would go with a place that offers captive bred seahorses. They are already acclimated to living in captivity and have better survival rates. Live Aquaria and Seahorsesource.com are two places that I would recommend ordering from.
