That sounds like a mess to me. You can buy dry rock that is already purple and safe.

I’m not sure what dye they use? Does it work on coral? Could be the next super glue for reef tanks.
I would recommend coralline algae as a more natural look.

Don't know if that would be ideal but it brings up a good question, how can we make our own purple rocks? Acrylic paint? Food grade dyes? House paint? OK not house paint.
