DYI Baked ash VS Store bought

Which is better DYI Baked ash or buying already made baked ash?

There shouldn't be any difference. I bake it in a cookie pan in a thin layer at about 350f for 1 hour. This drives off the carbon and moisture leaving only sodium carbonate.

Have to agree.....baked sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), is sodium carbonate (soda ash) and is no different from purchased soda ash.

I Also varified this by doing a ph test on water with baking soda added vs water with baked baking soda added.

Both had the expected ph results that you would normally get from baking soda and soda ash.
