Got some new fish last week from a VERY reputable source (no QT, will be doing next time). Our goby has been eating everyday since. Tonight she did not. After all the other fish ate, I pushed her out of her typical hole. She was breathing a little heavy, not swimming and hanging on this rock. Stomach may be slight extended but no other signs of disease. How should I treat her?

If you have a QT to put him in I would just for observation. If you do not I would observe him in the tank. Don’t go fishing around for him. It will only cause stress. Not eating for one day may not be the end of the world but I’d keep an eye on it.

Observed any fish being agressive to him?

Any parameter changes? A new fish might be more affected by that then your established fish.

Don’t forget about corals or nems.... they too may potentially harm your fish

Only water parameters changes has been a drop in alkalinity that I am slowly getting back up.

No new fish either, wrasse has been much more active but thats about it.

I can have a QT up by tomorrow night just need a lid and hiding spots

I’d get this ready if you’re really concerned he’s not doing well. Don’t want a sick fish in the DT. If his only symptom was not coming out and not eating for one feeding might not be a big deal BUT trust your gut.

Agreed, will see how he looks in the morning. Either way QT will be ready

Unfortunately she did not make it. No visual signs of disease, she was stressed for sure. The only thing I can point to was alk was dropping. Got to a dKH of 6, maybe that caused the stress?

I’m sorry to hear that. Other fish are doing ok?

I'm sorry for your loss :(

All other fish doing well. All ate last night and acting completely normal. We have been feeding a Dr.G Caviar (anti-parasitic) since we did not QT since these were the first fish.

Going forward we will go through a QT process for all new additions. I considered taking the fish out to QT them but I think this would be too much stress since they have been in for about 10 days and are getting comfortable with their new home and all seem okay.
