Hey guys,

So my turbo has seemed to be struggling staying upright over the past week or so. I've noticed and flipped him upright and he has started to go on his way. However the past two times or so he's struggled to put his foot down on the rock or the sand and proceeded to fall off rather quickly afterwards.

Tank params
Temp: 77 F
Ammonia: 0ppm
Trites: 0ppm
Trates: 5ppm
pH: 8.0

Nothing has changed and nothing else looks unhappy. I'm not sure if maybe my pistol or my emerald crab is messing with him but I haven't seen anything.

I just want to make sure that if he's going south I keep an eye so I can pull him.

Depending on where they were collected I gather.
They technically are a sub tropical species. I have had the same one last two tanks and a big move getting huge, yet all the others I've introduced since have perished relatively quickly.

They also need quite a bit of food to graze.

Yup. Big snails do starve out.

Mexican turbos are in fact subtropical. They come form the sea of Cortez. But take a wide range of temperatures.

Most likely on his way out.

If he's fairly new, then it could definitely be ph swings from import, shipping, or acclimation. If he's fairly old in the tank, then possibly starved. Once they can't hold on anymore, it's pretty much a downward spiral from there. If you have others in the tank, you can try doing algae wafers to see if you can keep them from starving.

I'm thinking I'll give him one more day to clean up his act and then I might have to let him go. Maybe I'll throw him in the algae ridden sump to ensure it's not starvation? There is definitely some GHA in my DT so I would be shocked if it's a food issue.
