I all,
I have several anemones in my tank and generally never have an issue with them. I added two rock flowers to my previous three last Sunday and one is looking pretty grumpy. It looked almost pretty and ‘normal’ yesterday, but has regressed to looking like a sad blob again today.

The only thing I can think of that’s clearly off with the tank is that my magnesium is high, as in it surpasses the max 1500 ppm testing range on my Salifert test. I’ve just been letting it come down on its own, but might do a little water change tonight.

Thoughts on how it looks? It’s the yellow pinstripe, you can see a healthy pink pinstripe underneath it.

I would give it a few more days to adjust to the lights in your tank. If it started to melt then I would get it out fast.

No melting as far as I can tell. I did have a mini carpet anemone randomly melt recently, but I’d had that anemone for months and it had always been a little off so I don’t think there’s a relation. And the second rock flower I added at the same time as this one looks good.

This one has expelled some brown stuff, so that’s why I suspected maybe getting rid of waste since my bubble tips do the same thing.

Rock flowers are some of the most hardy anemones there are. You have to do massive changes to kill them..lol
I would think it is expelling waste if it is not gapping it's mouth.

My anemones deflate everyday and expell waste. They drive my clown fish crazy when they do that. She is really mad when she can't play in them..lol

I will be getting a few soon when on vacation next month. I am getting them during low tide so I can just harvest without getting too wet. They survive in waters from 50° to 90+ waters here in Texas. It's a really wide range for something people call delicate little critters. Granted mine will not be ultra style, but they look amazing none the less.

That’s really neat you can just go out and grab them! I think even the “common” ones are pretty cool... I’d actually like to add a few eventually to the rock flower garden. Just hoping this one pulls itself together. It’s weird because my last pair of bubble tips never wilted and several of my new anemones do the whole deflating thing lol

Update:

The anemone is not looking good :(
It’s starting to look like it’s flesh is melting at the edges. It’s still sticky and reacts so there’s still hope for it, but I don’t really know where to begin. Should I try to get Ciprofloxacin? Amino acids? Put it in a sterile tank or let it be and hope it makes a come back?

My two main concerns are:
1. Can they even make a comeback at this stage?
2. Are all my other anemones safe?
