I’m pretty sure this is dynos but wanted a second opinion.

Also looking for advice on how to treat them. I don’t have a UV.

parameters:
Alk 10.3
Calcium 440
Phosphates .11 ppm
Nitrates .05 ppm
Salinity 1.026

My tank is on a 10 hour lighting cycle and the fuge is on opposite.

I wouldn’t be against a UV I just wouldn’t know where to start. My tank is a 75 gallon and my return pump is plumbed with 3/4” soft tubing.

Thanks

Nope don’t see dinosaurs yet . Looks more like cyano . To be sure try to blow it off with a turkey baster . Your phosphates could come down a little but other than that Parma are ok

That stringy stuff with air bubbles is dinos

OP your nitrates are bottomed out. You need 10ppm. Siphon out what you can. Turkey blast it into the water column and change filter media daily. Cut lights to 6 hours with blue and UV only no whites. Dose PNS probio which is a natural bacteria supplement.

If it blows off the rock then it’s cyano? Chemiclean works for that doesn’t it?

So I came home from work and it looks like bubbly snot now, so I’m going to say I have dinos. I ordered a UV, dr.Tim’s waste away, and micro bactor 7. I think I’ll dose the dr.Tim’s and microbactor and try a black out this weekend and then fire up the UV next week. Would you suggest I clean the sand bed and scrub the rock before doing the blackout?

What’s your po4 readings?

Sorry just seen it, you could try and increase your nitrates first, keep them at a detectable value for a few days/week and probably will go away on its own.

Yesterday it was .11 ppm using the Hanna ulr.
I use salifert for nitrate and I get 2 looking at it from the side so I think that’s .02ppm correct? Or is it .2ppm?

I pulled all my aquas are out this past weekend to catch some problem fish and I noticed Monday it exploded. Could this have caused it to bloom really bad?

Dinoflagellates will often appear if nutrients bottom out there’s a chance your nitrates bottom out. As your readings are quite low

I’d also start running the uv now and dose the micro bacter7 every day . Don’t do a water change for two weeks if you can . And cut back the lighting time and the whites .
