Wondering if someone could help me confirm whether this is a torch or a grape. Pic is with polyps retracted after doing some housecleaning in the tank. Included is a pic of a dead skeleton to help Id.
Thanks

Thanks. Not a hammer (tips are round). Was sold to me as a torch but polyps are thicker than many I’ve seen, so I started to wonder.

Hammers can have round tips. Not all are shaped like an anchor or wide head.
My teal tip micro hammer.

post a pic when open... :)

Definitely a hammer. I have a very similar colony with nearly round tips. Torches don't come in pink or tan, like this coral.

Think you might be looking at sammule’s pic, rather than mine. My coral is the top pics (green polyps with peach tips). Honestly, surprised to hear that it might be considered a hammer. I’ve always understood that what makes a hammer a hammer (e. parancora) is the hammer-shaped tips.
In any event, thanks to everyone for the assistance.

No, I was looking at your pics. The stubbiness of the tentacles combines with the thinness of the branches is what tell me it's a hammer. Torches typically have thicker skeletons and thinner tentacles.

So I was able to get a good natural sunlight close-up before the lights came on, and low and behold the tips are indeed “hammer-like”. Thanks for the help with the ID.
