If you go to watch thread link and click it you will find a option window. Just click without receiving email notification.
On the desktop, under your name in the drop down, there is also an alert preferences tab.

Resurrecting an old thread instead of making a new one.
I've been in the same boat (2000+ emails unread from R2R right now) since I DO want to get alerts (for the website view) but I DON'T want emails to be generated from them.
The link posted above only seems to show options for turning specific alerts on/off.....does not appear to affect emails, at least from the descriptions on the page.
Contact Details has options for "messaging preferences".....is "Always email watched thread notifications" the correct option?
I hope it's not because mine is already unchecked yet I'm still getting new emails.
