E5 led/T5 lighting

Been looking at these also. I wonder if it gives the shimmer as led usually does? And I have a dimmable t5 wondering how well they'll do ramping up and down also.
 
I follow them on Facebook and they posted a side by side comparison of the E5 blue pop LED next to T5 blues. Basically, just changed the bulbs in one lamp. The difference was impressive. Very crisp blue lighting. I'm interested, but want to wait until there is more user feedback.
 
I have a dimmable unit as well. I wouldn't think it would be any different than the t5 ability to dim. I would hope not.
 
cb684, please do share your experiences with the rest of us. I am very interested but want to see some real world applications and feedback. PAR levels compared to T5 possibly over the same tank to get factual evidence of their output.
I am going to get a Blue Pop E5 just for the LED pop instead of spending $400+ for a Reefbrite add on. If the other bulbs perform I would piece them in as I replaced my bulbs, but would still run a mix of T5 and E5 to get the UV produced by T5. I run a 8x80w ATI, be pretty expensive to change all the bulbs at once. Not to mention a shock to your corals.
 
These bulbs are very intriguing. I will flowing the thread to see your review CB684. Most interested in the blue pop factor as well.
 
I just ordered two of the blue tube's for my 8x60" ati fixture. Once I get them in i'll take some par #'s before and after the switch. I'm pretty curious how close they will resemble the b+'s they will replace, intensity wise.
 
My PAR will probably not change a lot since I will be replacing only one actinic lamp by the blue E5 in each of my two 8x54W fixtures. The plan is to add pop at dusk and dawn (not so much throughout the day). Although I will keep them on throughout the whole 12 hours light cycle, I am not expecting a lot of difference during day time, I believe all my other T5 will overpower it. Well... will see.
 
Heat sink on the opposite side of the tube. Also in most t5 fixture's you have active cooling. It sounds like they used a pretty low wattage led in these tube's as well. They were not trying to turn these tube's into par monsters, just trying to turn them into t5's. So I would think they don't put off tons of heat.
 
Wonder if the heat from other t5's would be any concern for the led tube?
IMO, it shouldn't be an issue as it should generate less heat than a T5 since it is consuming less watts.

I would hope they accounted for that since they are made to be ran in t5 fixture's : ) But if one blows up in my fixture i'll post it up :eek:
 
Good question! I too am sure they accounted for this. Hopefully Euroquatics will chime in on this one tomorrow.
 
Big thing is that since they have a 3 year warranty, you know you are covered for at least that time.
