Hello all,

Sorry I'm new to Anemone's I've had a pair of clowns for about 2 years now.

I was just wondering if there are any early signs that my clowns will befriend my new BTA?

They live in the corner of the tank, just below my overflow. But I have noticed my female clown has been touching her tail against the anemone for the past half an hour before dashing off, chasing something and then coming back. She's quite active around this time of night (probably looking for food). I was wondering if the frequent touching will maybe trigger something or is infact an early sign that she's trying to host.

I had noticed her swim through a tentacle or two earlier but I had just fed the tank so she was probably in the thought process of Food > Sting.

Please let me know! Thanks Tiggy

In my opinion that's a very good sign.

Something I did that worked very well was use a coral feeder and slowly feed mysis just above the anemone in a way that essentially forced the clowns to swim in the tentacles. It was after doing this that they started feeling it out the way you are discribing. I continued feeding that way and a week later they started hosting.

Sounds like the early stage. When my clowns first started hosting my torch, they would make quick dives (and then swam away fast cause that thing packs a punch) to get used to it. Soon after they were hosting!
Mine dove in as well haha. It was really fun to watch. Like someone trying to dip into cold water and hopping out.

Perfect! Thanks a bunch for your inputs! And fingers crossed this is the start of them hosting. They are over in their corner now as the lights are almost off, hopefully more progress tomorrow.
