edit: (Sorry, tried to fix thread title)

Tank has been running for about a month. Starting to get a little ugly. Looks like brown algae on rocks, mild isolated green algae in glass

Have a few Astraea and other small snails, crabs in there, but not a whole lot. Wondering if I should go ahead and get a fuller clean up crew, or wait it out?

don’t have a phosphate test kit yet, but nitrates are 0.

got too excited for black Friday and ordered frags for next week. Hope to give them a fighting chance.

Thanks!

Thanks for replies.

Its 40g breeder, with small protein skimmer. I have some chemo pure elite in the HOB filter, but was reading that some people might consider GFO, phosban. Or even a blackout for a few days.

Blackout yes, or very reduced lighting.... no GFO (at least yet), you may siphon to keep it broken up and even add astra, and trochus snails as well as blue leg hermits to keep it in check.

Thanks, maybe I'll try the reduced lighting.

It looks pretty mild right now, just hoping it doesn't blow up.
