After seeing all the destruction in Turkey it brought up nightmares in Southern Calif BIG ONE hitting. I have 120 acrylic tank that is on a flat top stand. Does/would acrylic hold up better when the big one hits and is it better to strap tank to wall. I've see post where the straps were ripped right out of studs and the tank was still sitting on stand...not sure if it would make a difference.
 
If it breaks you can get a bigger better tank through insurance and a new house too...win win
 
Hey there, I'm in LA County and I've had tanks through earthquakes in the high 6 Richter scale range (I fully understand that a 6 to 7 increase is actually 10X in shaking energy). The only thing that happened was water sloshing.
