Im looking to add a school of anthias. I will most likely only be feeding mysis once a day and may keep an automatic feeder running throughout the day. So considering that ill only be feeding once a day in my 90 gallon tank that includes multiple caves and places to swim, which is my best option?

thinking about either

3 ignitus Anthias
3 Lyretail Anthias
3 Carberryi Anthias

also which ones do you think are the nicest? im thinking about getting the ignitus...

Out of those I would go with 3 Lyretail Anthias and a male or even 5 total....I think Bartlet's look the best out of the hardy anthais and they are very easy to get eatting also. Most anthais are supper easy to keep and do better in numbers, so dont be afraid! Do you research before you buy, usually the anthais that require a ton of attention are really hard to find and will put a dent in your wallet. What ever you go with you will be happy, anthais are some of the most active and fun fish to watch in any display tank. Good luck!

I agree that Anthias are beautiful fish to have in your tank and I definately recommend the auto feeder. I had 3 Carberryi Anthias in my 125gal and they were ferocious eaters but they were easy to get onto dry food, and they grew very quickly!

I kept a single lyretail is my 90g and fed once a day without any issues. Fed it mysis and pellets but typically only once a day. Kept great coloration and stayed fat.

Well I guess I should have gone into more detail, I only recommend the feeder as I did not have one several years ago and I bought three very nice anthias that I later found out I slowly starved to death because I did not have a feeder. That would probably be the turning point in the hobby where I stopped listening to everything that the employees at the LFS had to say, and I started doing A LOT more reading before making purchases. I just know that I was really impressed with the growth and activity out of my second batch of anthias after I installed the auto feeder.

I would go with the Ignitus if I were you. They are peaceful and stay a bit smaller. I can tell you from experience I tried keeping a trio of Lyretails in my 90 and quickly realized they need alot more room to swim and go about imo. Also the male seemed be aggressive at eating time. I don't know if this is the cause of the tank being a bit small or what. They were about 3-4", so not even to their biggest potential. I had to take the fish out to treat so while at it I decided to give them a better home. Hope it helps! GL
