having some algae issue at the moment seems like it’s easy to get under control. I started using vibrant and I’m on my 3rd dose. I checked my chaeto and it shrunk and looked like it’s not growing. Wonder if Vibrant has something to do with growth. I changed the light to 100% white and this is what my tank looks like with the algae.

Thoughts on how to get rid of this faster?

I do weekly water changes.

What are you water parameters? I see your skimmer poking out the back, does it produce a good amount of skimmate?

My current skimmate.

Salinity 1.024
Alk 9.2
Phosphate 0.0 probably cuz of the algae

Only 3 I test.

Okay, I would maybe try reducing the photo-period of your lights or turn down the intensity some. Reduce your feedings or figure out a way that you can feed the exact same amount every time, that last bit there really helped me with some algae issues I have had in the past. Turn your pumps off during feedings as well so the fish have the ability to eat most if not all of the food. I would also get some more snails, try banded trochus if you can find any at your LFS.

Your skimmer appears to be doing it's job well. Which model is that?

Is it slimy and does it blow off the rocks with a turkey baster? It looks like green cyano to me. I had an issue with it and no amount of nutrient reduction helped. I ended up using chemi clean to get rid of it. I usually try to handle issues naturally, but it worked great.

Yes it blows off easily I have chemiclean but didn’t want to use it cuz I know it will come back. I have used it before and it worked great.

I’ll try to lessen the phot period this week. Hopefully this works.

What kind of flow do you have in there? If it keeps coming back, you might want to up the flow

Last time i used chemi clean nothing came back, why do you think it will come back?

Cuz chemiclean is just a band aid and if the source isn’t fix it comes back lol. I’m turning down my photo period first before I do chemiclean.

Just wanted to update you all, i won my battle with my alage. Cutting back the photo period for 4 days and using vibrant helped out alot
