Easy ways to quiet sump noise

What are some easy ways to reduce sump noise. Most of my searches lead to suggestions that require replumbing. I am looking for some jerry rig type suggestions.

Is it water splashing noises or humming from pump vibration? Pump vibration you could put a rubber mat under the pump. If the vibration is running up the PVC return it's going to have to involve minor plumbing. Cut out a small section put a nipple on each side and add a piece of silicone tubing. Get the silicone tubing from bulkreefsupply supply because it's super flexible, well worth the extra dollar or so. The tubbing you get from Lowes with any sort of inside diameter is still too rigid.

Ya, where's the noise coming from? In the sump, or from the overflow that leads to the sump?

More of a gurgle coming up from overflow and plumbing running up. I do have a right angle in the mix. Discharge is below water line

What type of drainage system do you run on the tank? Gurgling is an open siphon I will tell you that. The right angle won't cause gurgling it'll just create overhead and lower the water volume into the tank. The only thing that I can think of causing gurgling in the return is if air gets sucked into the return pump while it's running or it back siphons when it gets shut off. Return output below the water isn't an issue as long as you have a check valve on the tank again to stop flooding from back siphoning. A little back siphon may occur but not much with a check valve.

Am I correct in assuming that the gurgling is happening when the tank is running? I doubt it's in your return as line as long as your not sucking air. The overflow I can clearly see happening, knowing what type of drainage you have will help us help you. Is the drain tube under the tank that is sitting in your sump above or below the water? Is it hard PVC plumbing or the flex tube plumbing?

You might try one of these ‘sell your home’ tubes from Hone Depot or Lowes, filled with filer floss and drilled with drainage holes to buffer the sound; of course it has the added benefit of acting as additional mechanical filtration.

What type of overflow is it? Bean animal, durso, Herbie?

I have durso style drains and needed to widen the air inlet in the top of them and it cut down on the nose quite a bit.

If it's coming from the sump area you can always try adding a lid.
