Eating Up RO Membranes

Update time!
I was sure I’d need to change my carbon filters by now.
Pre filters are turning brown but no significant drop in pressure.
TDS post membrane is 4-5 and holding.
No issues since having brought units indoors.

This is a Salifert chlorine test. It does read at parts per million.I’m testing post RO carbon filters in order to determine the need for replacement. The RO unit has been up since mid July and producing a minimum of 60 gallons of usable water weekly.

Do you sample and test after each carbon housing or just after both?

post membrane, after both, before the DI

I figured that was the case, I didn't know if you had done any sampling/testing after the first one. My guess would be after all the water you put through it you might be getting some chlorine through the first housing, but that depends on your incoming chlorine and the capacity of that filter you installed.

No worries though that's what you have the second one for.

Still holding. The pre filter is brown. No drop in pressure I can see
The post membrane TDS is now 3!
Was 5 when new. Is that unusual?

Maybe a seasonal change in your water parameters. Have you compared the incoming TDS to what it was before?

Yes, the change over from out side to laundry room has made a huge difference. Best thing that we came up with. Can't thank you guys enough for walking me through the process.
