Apex Classic broke after 10 years last , so I replaced it today with new model. Included EB 832 is DOA. I am stupid for buying it from a LFS with a broken seal.

Is this really worth chasing down to get to work. I am very familiar with interface but sort of realize this definitely hobby grade quality. It is new and does not power on. Breaker on back in not tripped. Back it goes to fish store.

What other options are out there?

EB832 issues are quite common. I repair them literally daily.

Here's one problem:

and another:

Here's my video on covering some of it:

and I'm working on the third video which will come out soon, within a week or so. It will cover yet another common failure.

I'm also thinking of offering a few of EB832s for sale with most common problems addressed, which will make them last much longer.

Problems with 832 certainly appear to be more frequent than with the older EB8. Shoddy power supply parts is not unique to the 832. I've replaced switching power supplies in consumer electronics equipment on a few prior occasions (only if soldering free LOL). I've not yet had issue with either of my 832 ..... fingers crossed.

The old EB8 was rock solid, however I did mount in electrical panel well cooled and in different storage room away from moisture, will post a photo later.

I ditch most hobby grade power supplies and refit on a DIN rail with commercial PULS Dimensions. I buy used and they are trust worthy. Ebay has them for 75 each often used and 500 usd new. They will not break unless abused.

Neptune seems responsive so will keep fingers crossed. Honestly I would be fine with new black metal EB8 installed properly. Replacement PSU videos are coming out . I used the breakout box to monitor PSU as a loop. It works extremely well for years.

Don't really know what that means LOL, got this sitting on my desk for my Oppo UDP-203. Haven't had the 'courage' to install it yet.

I have the Panasonic UB820. I like it.

Din rail power supplies are used in commercial application that are low failure critical. They are often replace after few uears of service and last a decade. The come in 12v 24v 36 and 48v . Tunze uses 24v and LEDS are 48v often.
