I'll give a little background first. I have had my APEX system only running my flow pump and controlling my heater until I can take a shelf down and re-run all the wires. It sits on the floor in front of my 150g display. (no one but me walk where it is, and I'm careful not to step on it)...

NOTE: I did NOT spill anything on it nor was it a tank leak.

So there I am sitting having dinner with my family. (I BBQed some thin steaks with a "brown sugar bourbon" seasoning...it was good) then all the sudden we hear a weird sound and my cat by my bedroom door looking in intently. The sound is coming from my room!!!! I ran in to see my EB8 sparking and the room smeled of burned plastic.....still does :(. I unplugged everything from it and then unplugged the EB8 it self. When I flipped the EB8 over it was clear what happened.... my cat threw-up on it.......

Ouch man...sorry to hear. Never thought of something like that ever happened but it is.

Did you punish the cat? Lol. J/K

This is why nothing should be left on the ground in this hobby. I try to make sure I mount everything above tank level. Sorry for ur misfortune!

That's gotta suck. But what was worse cleaning up the throw up or losing the eb8 J/K. And I do what CoralClark does mount all electrical components above tank level or so

if you ask me the cat had a purpose

lol, no punishment. Cats don't really respond to punishment like dogs do, unfortunately.

loseing the EB8 for sure, I can clean the stuff up easy... that $160 part that needs replaced however.... in the end, lesson leared... the hard way. :/

Yep, cats are always looking...it probably took it a while to devise such a scheme...sorry to make light of your misfortune.
odly enough the one that did it couldnt care less about the tank or fish, and go ahead and make light of it. After all, what would staying mad about it do for me? :)
