i got a used setup from a friend about 2 months ago and i know it was working as i was the one who took it off the tank

Plug in energy bar i get no light but after a few seconds i get a mechanical click and then a few seconds later another and thats it

Pluged into the main module with an aquabus cord and it registers fine and i updated it but still is not taking ac power from the cord

Any ideas? And doesnt appear to be the fuse/breaker

The click sounds like a mechanical relay turning on and then off. Can you check the programming saved onto the APEX and be sure the outlets are actually on?

When i updated it i was using a power supply on the control unit but when i get plug in the eb832 to run the control unit im getting no power what so ever

It sounds like the power supply may be programmed for the loss of power alarm function. I would be sure the main unit is getting power via aquabus and plug the 832 into a wall outlet to test. You can then check the outlets with something simple like a lamp/phone charger/anything.

Take the power supply out of the equation for now.

Apex was reset to setup (on its own power supply)

Eb832 ive hit the breaker/reset button multiple time doesnt seem to have actually come out at all either though

Oh ok, I did not know you had reset it. Are you sure the outlets are turned on in the programming? I did not see you mention that anywhere.

Even if the outlets are off shouldnt it have status lights and be powering the apex unit?

Yes, you should have status lights. Sorry if I misunderstood your first post. If the EB832 is plugged into the wall, it should power the APEX unit over aquabus.

Yeah thats my issue plugged in to the wall on its own i get nothing and doesnt power the apex unit but if i plug a 12v source into the apex unit the eb832 lights come on and its controlable through the apex

So im going to go out on a limb and say the internal 12/24v power supply is bad everything works fine when the apex unit is fed 12v and i can control the outlets ext but i plugged in the core 15 pump to the 4 link and get nothing

Send Neptune a ticket. They will ask you to try a couple things then suggest a RMA. I just went through this about a month ago. We had a power surge when a car hit a line, knocked out power, when power was restored by our utility company 3 times the normal load entered the neighborhood blowing our breakers. Lost AC, refrigerator, dish washer, thermostat, bunch of smart plugs, and of course the energy bar.

My energy bar powers 2 Cor 15's and a trident. Those stayed off line but I had a Cor 20 (I use 1 cor 15 and 1 cor 20 for dual returns) on another outlet so when power was restored that at least kept tank circulation. Once I got the energy bar sorted out (reset it the next day) everything worked but the 1 link ports. Neptune had me try a few things and somehow it got back to working. Last month the 1 link tripped again and they gave me a RMA and I sent it in for diagnostics. The surge that we saw that took a lot of our appliances offline actually damaged the 1 link board. They fixed it. $50 bucks. All in all worth it and it is now back to normal.

Best of luck.

Yeah i just actually sent in an rma but already dealing with this has me debating just selling it off and keeping my setup simple like i always have seems to just be adding more failure points
