eBay sand

Anyone ever use this stuff? I have a friend that swears by it, but everytime i try it for shallow sand the tank always goes south. Bubble continuously fourming in the sand when the lights have been on for awhile is my main complaint. Just wondering other people’s reviews on it. Picture posted to see what sand I’m talking about.

I think would avoid Ebay for sand. Either local pet store or LFS, or BRS for some. Not worth risking it. The promise of staying white sounds like there might be something mixed with it, copper maybe??

I was able to get a 10lb bag of Carib-Sea live pink Fiji sand for $8 a bag on Amazon. I felt sorry for the Amazon delivery guy though since I bought 13 bags.

Iv seen this sand in a couple tanks. If you’re on instagram check out budmans_corals page. He told me this is the sand he uses, and i don’t know how he makes it work, because for me it’s notjing but garbage. Lol i only tried it because of how good his sand looks.

So what is the best source of cheap sand? I always see "get new sand with a new tank" but don't want to spend hundreds on sand. It doesn't need to be live so couldn't we just use pool filter sand or something?

Keeping the regular sand clean is hard enough. Can't imagine the maintenance needed for pure white sand.

I would never ever use pool filter sand. I’m sure there is some kind of chemical in it.
