Are the ecotec mp 40 powerheads worth the high cost? What makes them so much more than other powerhaeds?

Honestly if your looking at the mp40 it's great but take a look at a tunze wavebox plus it's only 325 new for up to 210 gallons. Check one out on you tube AMAZING!!

reason it worth so much because of the functionality i personally own a mp10 and love it because i can change the setting and adjust the flow as well it it also eliminate the ugly bulging looks in the tank.

The people I've talked to with them say there worth it once you get them, just hard to drop the money for them. Most power heads blow straight out. Mp-series blows all directions and have a lot more power. They also last longer and keeps the wires from going in the water.

I have an MP10ES and love it! These pumps are versatile and powerful!
I run my vortech on reef crest mode most of the time which will provide a broad range of flow over the day but never too out of control, then every once and a while, for example when it storms, I switch over to a more chaotic flow like tidal swell mode or nutrient transport mode. Originally I did this because I could with a cool new toy, but now it preforms a valuable service of picking up detritus and uneaten food from everywhere in the tank for the filter to grab.

I own a 40 and a 10. I would not trade them for anything else. No wires in the water, clean look. My favorite things are that you can set them to be opposite sides of the tank and they work together to alternate current. Also the sleep function is nice. Mine automatically go to sleep at night and run at 50%. And wake up 8 hours later. I'm picking up 2 more mp-10's for my clown anemone tank that just got set up yesterday. Currently running my old hydor pumps till the 10's get here.
