Hi All!
I searched on forums regarding BioStones and found very little (maybe I am still too new to properly search) HOWEVER- I am curious what the opinion is on them for Salt tanks? I really stand by them for my fresh tanks. Once I started using these stones in my fresh tanks they have never looked better. This is obviously with routine care in general, but I have never had such crisp clear water as I have had once these stones cycle and get going.

ANYWAY- Has anyone used/ uses them in their salt tanks? I am curious if they work as well in the saline environment as they do in fresh and if I should drop one into my new salt tank during its cycle start up….

Grateful for any and all advice -
Thanks guys :)

I had not heard of these before, but they can apparently be used in saltwater as well. I wasn’t able to find much on these, just a single reference to use in a FOWLR setup.

Sounds like they are similar to bioblocks, etc in that they are just very porous blocks for colonizing bacteria, but these say they already contain bacteria that will activate when exposed to organic waste? This sounds a bit unbelievable to me, but I am far from a biologist. In any case though very porous rocks do provide a good environment for bacteria to colonize.

Right?? I have seen little to no opinion about them here. It has been such a good product for my fresh- and economical as they only need replacing every 1-2 years. It has been 100% worth having them in my fresh tanks- but as I am starting with a nano salt water tank I must choose space wisely- if these won’t perform as well in salt tanks I will not waste the space ! Hope someone out there has an idea! :)
