I recently picked up a second wetside for my MP60. In the box I found a sample bottle of the new Ecotech Coral Glue. What a pleasant surprise! Heck, this much glue would have cost me at least 10 bucks!
The sample bottle I received was 30mL, uses large screw on cap, the applicator/cap is just as tall as the body of the bottle! It is similar to the small Gorilla Glue super glue bottle.
Having almost used about half the bottle I figure it would be nice to post a review of this stuff.
The design of the bottle is superb, application of the glue is easy and mess free. There is almost no chance of the tip becoming clogged, it seals up very well.
The glue is an extremely thick gel, perhaps even more thick than IC Gel. I was able to apply a huge glob about the width and height of a nickle without it budging. I happened to be out of aquamend so I figure I would just use a bunch of extra superglue to apply the frag. To my surprised it worked pretty well, attaching to a ledge on my liverock.
In some instances I definitely think this glue can replace the traditional aquamend/superglue combo used to attached frags.
Once this sample runs out I plan on picking up a large bottle of the Ecotech glue.
Some things I really dislike about other glues that I haven't found to be an issue with the Ecotech glue:
There is a common glue out there, sold as reef glue, but is actually a think hobby glue, it has a pink cap and red sticker, which has a bad habit of becoming horribly clogged. Drives me nuts.
IC GEL, I've found that the aluminum body of the tube will crack and break over time, squeezing out glue onto your hands.
