I noticed there are a few guards for the Ecotech and other brand wave makers. I attempted to initially recreate all the ones that I could find. I eventually decided they had things I liked and didn't like. So I designed my own.
Here is my take on an mp40qd guard.

Do you like how it turned out?
I do. I have made 4 of them and this was the only design I felt that had good flow and would be something to actually show and produce. The hardest part was getting good flow through it.
I haven't had a lot of time with it. I am still testing it and will know better after I get the second one printed for the other side.
 
I used Esun PLA Pro (plus). It is not as brittle as regular pla. I don't even get regular pla any more after going to this stuff. It is night and day difference.
I have had luck with pla and petg for keeping in my tank. Fully submersed and something that goes in and out and never had any issues.
