Good day all,
Any owners of the Ecotech Battery Backup please help a guy out. I recently replaced the power supply brick from Ecotech Marine because it was believed to be defective (the red led never went out). Now I have a new one installed from them. The red led went out, but no green led. I assume once the battery is charged the red led changes to green. Any advice/comment are welcome.

I had a similar problem with one of mine. Replaced the power brick but it turned out that the battery itself was dud. How old is yours? I think that the power brick is red when it is charging and then should turn to green. One way to test the battery is to run one of your pumps off it and see how long it lasts. Mine would only power the pump for a few minutes before becoming exhausted - which is what ultimately revealed that the battery was shot.

Got the battery backup less than a month ago. I'll trouble shoot some more. Then most likely contact Ecotech Marine. Thanks for the advice.

My battery backup brick is always green. If you unplug the power head driver, how many LED lights light up on the driver? 100 % charged should indicate all LEDs on the driver.

The battery may charge faster on its own without being hooked up to the driver.

I prefer to know actual battery voltage. I soldered a barrel plug to a multimeter and read 13.9 volts

Got schematic of said mod/hack? That sounds like a good idea.
When the driver is unplugged from the wall all but 3 LEDs are lit.

Sounds like 3 LEDs is in a very low voltage state. I would try to charge the battery for 12-14 hours with only the battery backup power supply/brick plugged to it.

I’m not at home now, but when I get a chance will show some pictures

Hey Jim, I used a 3.5 x 1.35 mm barrel plug (the barrel plug measures 3 mm circumference and shaft is 10 mm long when measured with a ruler) and soldered a connection so it would connect to my digital multimeter. The barrel plug should be plugged into “12 Volt Output” hole under the Ecotech battery. My voltage reads 13.2 volts.

I had the barrel plugs already laying around. Ordered from EBay. It allows you to charge various household devices with an AC adapter.

Thank you for the info Clownfish. I may have to tackle this project soon.
