I like the newer lenses and how they have combined the quality of lighting into such a small device with these HEI lenses.
HEI lenses deliver the light uniformity and color mixing of a halide T5 combo without sacrificing the power and efficiency of the LEDs.

I prefer LEDs over T5s for three reasons. First, the slim profile is visually "clean" and appealing to me as well as it permits me to access and work on my tank. Second, I hate the thought that my corals aren't getting their ideal spectrum of light because my bulbs are nearing the end of their life - LEDs have no maintenance and all of their ownership cost is in the initial purchase. Lastly, I really value the ability to program dawn and dusk effects. That combined with the shimmer of LEDs - I feel like my reef is closer to nature.

My next upgrade will likely be my lights next fall. Planning to go big and buy myself the best - three Gen4 XR15's to cover my 36" tank.

These Gen 4 lights are awesome! I love the new HEI lense and PAR output. Ialso have to say I like the cooling system as well, heat is a killer for LED's and you can't have the best lights without some extra cooling protection.
