Hi,

I have two Ecotech marine XR15W Pro G3 that I need to install into a wood canopy above my tank. It looks that the install options at Ecotech or Bulk reef supply are for places where you can install a wire and let the light hang. I unfortunately do not have much clearance and it needs to be somewhat secure because the canopy opens up for the only access to the tank. Anyone have any suggestions that may work? I was thinking of a thin stainless pole but it would have to be custom made with eye loops at each end for install? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Idk if this helps you out. I mad my own mount out of aluminum bar from lowes. My lights sit 8inches from the surface of the water. Still have access to buttons on lights and you can run the cables through the bar to hide them is needed.

I'm sure you can figure out the dimensions to fit under your canopy.

That looks great. Did you use aluminum bars that would fit through the loops on the light that screw in? Not sure exactly what you did. That looks just like the mounts they sell from ecotech

I used the three sided aluminum bar. I measured the total length I wanted. In my case 48 inches. I the. Decided how I wanted them mounted and made measurements to the center of the mounting screw hole on the light. I then drilled and used small bolts and nuts to secure everything.

I have attached a few more pictures. Also a link that BRS posted on YouTube. The exact same steps I just added a few more pieces to make a complete stand and not hang them.

After everything was screwed together I spray painted Black and used 3m Velcro tape on the bottom of the stand where it rests on the tank frame. I did this just to make sure is would not slide or move just because the whole setup is so light with the lights mounted.

Hi, the picture below isn't the product I wanted to show you but is as close as I could find using a well known search engine... the actual railing is much stronger and the head of the M10 bolt that secures the light fits into the open side with a fibre washer in between not only are they secure but can be moved as well... You will need to have a better dig about to find it... if I do I'll post again...

It's actually a picture of a curtain pole please don't buy this one it's the best picture I could find to describe what I was talking about... let me look again.

Ok it's called Aluminium Profile, or Cross section. Having trouble finding a supplier that's not part of a shopping outlet website so won't post links on here... You should find it. I used it for another brand of light works very well and doesn't rust. Remember the fibre washers.
