I have a 90g mixed reef (BB and some SPS). Currently running 4 powerheads that total about 4700gph. My tank looks healthy and growth is good. But have 4 pumps and wires in the tank can take a little away from the view.

Question: Does anybody have any MP 40s in there tank or seen one in action? They have a large price tag, but would it be a good purchase top buy one and only run like 2 of my other pumps on the back wall till I can buy a second MP 40? They seem to be good products and look better since they are wireless in the tank.

Any opinions?

If positioned right, you could get by with your return and one mp40. Two would be ideal. But not 100% necessary. I just ordered mind the other day. I tried one for a month and loved it. I'm going to run one mp40 and my return pump. Finally getting rid of the three Koralias.

Mp40 are well worth it and with the right rock work and proper placement makes amazing flow! And if you sync it up with a second one on master/ slave mode you will wish you had done it a lot sooner!!

Where'd you end up ordering from? Did you price shop around?

I have 2X MP40wES, on my 200 Deep Dimension. I purchased them, one at a time, several months apart. I LOVE them, you will too! Even without setting up a wave, they produce a 2"-3" wave in my tank, during a short time, each circuit.

Vortech requires all of their retailers to sell their products at the same price, MAP pricing. Shopping around will be a waste of time.

Oh true. Thanks for the heads up returnofsid.

Would 1 MP60 be good in a 90g or would 2 MP40s be the optimal way to go.

+1 to above anyone that sells them is required to sell at that price. Only cheaper way is used. And if a retailer discounts them without permission for ecotech they loose right to sell them

I have a typical 90 and I'm doing fine with just 1 mp40w ES and my return. No extra flow needed.

I have two mp40s and a tunze Wavebox 6215 in a 120 gal (5 foot long). The Wavebox does give lot of waves while mp40s give wide range of flows. Vortech and Tunze are the best.

I would go with one mp40 for now to test it out, unless you have enough budgets to get two then no need to wait.....get'em now lol
