i just picked up some older Ecotech no pumps from a friend whose tank cracked a while back. These pumps are older but have not run ina couple years. My question. I got 2 complete MP40 and a dry MP 20. The motors on both are the same size. I can’t find a MP20 wetside will a MP40 work? Also I will be buying new wetside also.

I'm 99 percent sure an MP20 dryside will work with a new MP40 wetside.

@Brew12 may know. Also salty is another electric guru. Let me find his user.

Sorry, I have no idea. I would have to refer to the manufacturer. I can say that you won't hurt anything to try it since the OP has the MP40 and MP20 pieces already.

Beats the odds of me. I haven’t heard of the Mp20...

Just skimming some research, it looks like EcoTech sold an “MP40 Upgrade kit” for the MP20. So I am assuming some of the pets are interchangeable.

So it looks like the Upgrade kit would intail:
“MP20
You need to purchase a MP40 Power Supply $50
MP40w EcoSmart upgrade is $100
(remember the this is discounted to $75 until April 30th)”- Reef Builders
So you can use the MP20 wet side with MP40 dry side. But you want it flipped..

More to come..

-Zack, let’s see if sn2per is still the EcoTech guy in the forum.

Yes I have the MP20 dry just want to make sure a MP40 wet will work before I spend the money.

MP20 is a very old, discontinued pump. I used an original MP40 wetside (not the QD version) with an MP20 motor for a while. Worked fine as I recall.

Thanks guys. Got one of the 40’s running and the 20. Working pretty good. Thanks for the help.
