Ecotech MP40wQD Not Working!!!

I have 2 MP40wQD pumps on my tank now just over a year. I noticed the other day one of them stopped working. The controller is not powering up(no lights). I tried changing the power supply from the pump that works on the one that isn't and that did not help. Anyone here experience the same issue? Is it worth sending it to Ecotech for them to diagnose the problem and fix it or just by a new one as the warranty has expired?

Depended on how much ecotech charges, it sounds like a dead power board. New units can be gotten for 80 bucks from BRS. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/mp40wqd-upgrade-driver.html I'd call ecotech, see what they say, and then weigh your options.

Thanks. I've spoke to Ecotech and asked them if its just the driver that needs replacing but they insist that i send it in for further investigation.

Sometimes they'll let you buy a replacement at discount

Yeah that’s what they did with my Radion. I went ahead and bought a new driver so I will see if that fixes the issue first if not then I will send it in to them for repairs or replacement.

I’d diagnose it myself if I were you. Swap drivers and see if the problem follows thc driver or the dry side. Any chance water got into the driver? I flooded one once, which is apparently not recommended ..... replacement driver is pretty reasonable; dry side not so much.

I will try it. Just didn’t want to take a chance and loose my other Mp40. My drivers are in a completely separate part of the stand blocked off from sump are so no chance of water getting on it. I ordered a replacement driver so hopefully that fixes the issue.
