Is anyone aware if Ecotech uses some type of lubricant on the wet side of their Vortech's?

I recently installed two MP60's on my reef tank replacing two MP40's and for the last two days my skimmer has not produced any foam, or in other words lost sufficient surface tension to skim.

I disassembled the wet side of one of these pumps and it seemed as though there was an oil type substance where the guard meets the propeller needle.

Has anyone else ever had an issue with this? I searched other forums but couldn't find a match of any kind. Everything seems healthy but without the skimmer gaining it's effectiveness back I worry about longer term consequences of whatever I have introduced to the tank.

I had something similar on my mp10. I think they just use some type of nontoxic jelly for assembly so that when you first fire up the pump it's not dry or plastic on plastic until water gets In there to lubricate it.
