I have posted about this same issue in the past. The new ecotech wet sides have a ceramic coating on the center rod the disintegrates over time. The old type was just metal. Is there a way to replace the thinner rod with the old type that is a little thicker to replace the thin rod with coating? I cant be the only one having this issue. They made me buy new wet side in December because my controllers were out of warranty and now both have failed in the same way.

I found the thread advising to try the shrink tube. Eco tech is sending a replacement. Hopefully they have made some change seeing all the threads about this. Is it just the mp10 affected or is it the same with the mp40s?

Is the picture the old type (metal) or new type (ceramic)... Picture looks like plastic to me.. either way, try a different manufacturer/ brand, replace the old with new and move on.

The picture is the new ceramic coated.

December you purchased your well into your warranty by a couple of months, contact them and explain as this is a serious amount of time/money/ etc, don't look for replacement parts, go back to your original supplier, get a replacement and/or look for better purchase in the future..what do others use?
What works in Thier aquarium and had no problems with, is it better to go cheap and replace every 2 years... You know better for your circumstances
