Ecotech problems?

I had 2 MP10 power head that had exposed magnets and was rusting into my tank. Ecotech would not warranty the item so I purchased 2 replacement wet sides. Now 3 months later one of the shafts white plastic coating has disintegrated. Do I replace for $70 and hope they last or go with something more reliable? I can not believe the most expensive equipment I invested in are having so many problems.

I've found a year to be about the lifespan on those mp10 wet sides. I like that they can be swapped out for new ones instead of replacing the whole thing but for something that expensive they really should be sturdier.

Mine have lasted years without major issue. Do you clean them? I clean mine every month or two.

I had a guy at a swap tell me to plan to swap the wet side every year or two, I thought that was crazy

Yes I disassemble and clean them every few weeks, and rinse them daily since I have the foam anemone guard from ecotech

People use the heatshrink to fix the white ceramic coating. Heard it lasts forever.

Broken shaft on an MP10..fix it for pennies

So I bought an MP10 last week off the forum. When i got it in I went to clean the wetside more and dropped it :mad::mad:. It cracked the ceramic shaft in half. So the ceramic only went halfway up the shaft. The pump still worked but couldnt go past around 40% or it would make a little bit of...

Also you can swap out the shafts from your old mp10 wetsides, if those are still good.
