Hello R2R,

I have a few questions as I like to do my research before I purchase. Can someone answer the following questions for me about Radions? Thanks

1.) Do you need the Reeflink to control the light? (I can control my my Hydra HD 52 from my phone)
2.) Is there a huge difference in the G4 vs. G4 Pro? (850 for a light is insane).
3.) Can I run the AB template program along with other templates with the regular G4 or do I need the pro?

If you are wondering why I am switching or want to switch its simply because i think the templates might be easier to use i like the idea of presets AI hydra does not have that. The templates take the guessing out of the equation.

From that, thanks to Crabs...…
The G4 Pro has better spread, the Pro also has violet leds to help hit the UV spectrum better than the regular. The Pro also has the warm white channel whereas the regular does not
Hope this helps! :)

You can control the light from the buttons on the top but it is a pain. To set and forget a program, you simply plug into your computer with the usb provided and save the program away. In terms of on demand control you must have a reef link or apex. Sorry not sure what the AB program is.

I thought the AB program was a template in the radions lol. I was wrong i guess lol. Thanks for the info.
think I might just get a 3rd Hydra HD 52

I programmed mine with the computer using usb and ecosmart live. Plug it into one light and program all lights that you have. No reeflink required for that. If you want to change them or adjust them without hooking a computer up, then you need reeflink.

If I could only get the regular g4s, not the pros, I would buy something else. The pros are ridiculous expensive, but the non pros aren't exactly cheap and offer less. I would probably use AIs or kessils.

I'm pretty sure you can run the ab program on the non pros.

Thats what I wanted to hear if I could run the AB program on the regulars. I mean AI does have wifi built into the lights I am not sure I can justify getting them at this point. I really wanted the templates they have
which is the only thing AI does not provide. I mean I can download the signature series template from folks off of their site but those are still custom and probably not tested like Ecotech does. I guess I might have to
pick up a 3rd AI. Hydra 52 HD because 840 bucks for a template is still unjustified.

It is a template. You find it in ecotech live. It’s an app. You don’t have to have reeflink. It just gives you wireless capabilities. If you don’t want it, there’s a tiny plug on the fixture that will go straight to your pc. From there, you go to ecotech live, chose a template and save it directly to the light.

I just set up two radion xr30 pro's today, although you don't need the reeflink, which I don't have, you can't change the settings once you set them up unless you have a long usb cable or a tablet. I thought I could get by without it but it hasn't even been a hole day and it's already driving me crazy that I can't change the settings. I just ordered one.
