Oh and there’s a battery on the board, guessing this is to save settings maybe ?

So now that you got these together are they hung and if so how are you liking them ? and is the App working in English?Oh and there’s a battery on the board, guessing this is to save settings maybe ?
Click on my build thread there’s a pic there. I like them, the app is English but is terrible. However I set them once and don’t really mess with them so not a huge deal.So now that you got these together are they hung and if so how are you liking them ? and is the App working in English?
The app is VERY finicky. I literally used 3 phones both android and ios, reset the light half a dozen times, turned my fish room into a disco EDM dance floor before i finally got it to barely work and decided to say f it and call it a day.It worked using iOS. Not working on Android.
Okay but honestly full spectrum LED lighting is not novel to reef keeping. It started as plant lighting (read about Dr. Ott pioneering this as a nutrition source for plants and animals and humans and his theory on malillumination and its similarities to malnutrition). LEDs were common for those of us with exotic avian species well before they got the aquarium trade. Any company producing LED lighting for any purpose is just taking something someone else discovered and tweaking it to make their version of a better wheel. When you take someone else's intellectual design and flat out copy it, that's unethical and immoral in every way. I don't care about the legality. Lots of things are legal but unethical.
Company: I mean we made it look exactly like a duck, it sits like a duck, it even walks like a duck but the quack is 5% quieter and in a different language...
Consumer: Oh! That's okay then!

Same goes for power heads. It’s a waterproof fan. Magnet driven motor, thank you Henry Ford. How many ways are there to design a low profile circle, or a rectangle? I’ve got led puck lights mounted under cabinets that predate kessils.
There is a difference in a rectangular black box light and a purse that’s branded Dior that wasn’t made by Dior.
Patent infringement is enforceable. IDK if echo tech’s patents for older lights are still in place or if they expired. They didn't simply "tweak" the technology. No one had made anything like a Radion before. The Chinese copied what Ecotech did. Big difference. The Chinese didn't "tweak" LED technology to fit their use. They stole someone else's work.
I guess if you want to paint with such a broad brush, there is no such thing as patents and trademarks. I mean, in the end it is simply just LED technology.

But honestly at this point it IS just LEDs that put out a desired amount of energy and proprietary SOFTWARE to run the light. Everyone built off of someone else’s research.
Pharmaceuticals was a fantastic analogy as it’s the OG manufacturer that spends the tens to hundreds of millions and sometimes a decade of work to develop then research through four phases of clinical trial for safety and efficacy. Then the patent expires and everyone produces it and hopefully glaxo or lilly or Novartis etc made their money back before it expired.
Again, it has clearly been stated that the lights in questions have different wattage, and different software.
There are only so many ways to design a rectangular fixture and beyond physical appearance, there doesn’t seem to be any similarity between the two lights. AI didn’t invent light bars. Did they rip off someone else’s design?
. I'll do a repair video and do a detailed technical compare between this light and a radion G5.Why wait till one breaks..They made it look just like Radion G5 so that others would buy it thinking they are getting a good deal on a knock off. And may be it is a good deal. I don't know. But from the pictures and the specs so far, as I mentioned already on page 1 of this thread, these lights are not in anyway copies of radions and should not be treated as such. You pay less, you get less in this case.
P.S.: Someone should send me one of these for repair when it breaks for you. I'll do a repair video and do a detailed technical compare between this light and a radion G5.

Oh, I agreeWhy wait till one breaks..
It would be interesting to compare driver boards, cpu ect.
But the motivation to send in a broken light may be stronger.
