But it is new!

Waiting for the lads to do their tear downs so aggressively like they did when the SKY fell....
wait the skys fell? wasn't everyone pleased with them and there was a massive hype?

Will the new optics for G6 reduce shadowing around branching SPS?

The G5 vs G6 wattages are unchanged. To me, the new Gen 6 is more like a Gen5-plus--more like a tweak than all new. The widening of the blue-violet spectrum is mainly for improved fluorescence.

Wow so g6 has no moon light? They can keep them

you could run the 2 UV low and it would work as lunar. This is how I do it on other fixtures. I just find whatever has a low # of leds and use that as lunar... usually its cyan but ya. Works fine if you don't care bout lunar cycles.

To me it honestly feels like they messed up with the G5’s and are now trying to fix it by releasing a new version. Then they’re charging 400$! To upgrade your G5 to G6! I’ll pass and keep my G4’s
We’re do you see this offer ? Wonder if I could trade in my 2 g5 blue for 2 g6 pro? I honestly hate the blue and wish I got 4 g5 pro instead of 2 and 2

$400 and you can upgrade to the G6 spectrum and new HEI2 optics. You can go from Blue to Pro or vice versa

No reason to switch if you already have a G5 but it's good for new buyers

Kessil users ran into this when the a360x came out. Users of the a360we had to decide if upgrading to the X was worth it.

G4's and G5's are still a good light. G5's are not even that old. Someone with quality testing like Dana Riddle would need to present some results to see if the switch is worth it.

As you suggest new buyers it isn't really a big deal. Those running G4 or G5's that data is going to play an important factor.

Where did you get that from if you don't mind me asking. Or did you manually collate it.

Thanks btw.

BRS uploaded a g6 spotlight video incase you missed it.
He claims no more diffuser needed? That would be a big plus for me because the diffuser on the G5 throws the light more towards my eyes sitting on the couch than without diffuser.
Heard nobody else complaining about this issue, can't believe i'm the only one.

On the other hand, maybe the G6 throws the light more into your eyes/livingroom anyway because of the wider spread, not sure if that's a good thing.

One one hand - get it, it's new, it's shiny, we love spending monayyyyy!!

On the other hand - wwait, stop. why? buy more corals instead and enjoy the G5 :)
