EcoTech Radion XR15w PRO + Reeflink

Hey guys,

New to R2R. I am still fairly new into the hobby of reefing. I've had my 90g system setup for just about a year now. I purchased my DT pre-owned but filled it with all new products. It is LPS dominate. I have had a few SPS but they didnt last too long (3-4 months). Everything seems to doing pretty well but not THRIVING like I would love (http://reef2reef.com/threads/new-to-r2r-brief-introduction.226706/). However, I just wanted to do a little bit of exploring on people's lighting suggestion. YES, i know that certain specimens have different requirements/preferences which will make this thread a little bit complicated and have done my best for coral placement. I am running (2) EcoTech Radion XR15w Pro's. What is nice and what I like about the Radions + Reeflink is that you can make whatever wavelength of light you would like, for however long you want when it comes to you light schedule. Considering myself a 'beginner', I am not quite sure how to dial in my lights.

What are everyone's opinions when it comes the the several different pre-loaded light templates from Ecosmart/Reeflink? Right now I am currently running the 'deep reef' template that contains more blues with a maximum intensity of 70% (i believe either 10 or 12 hours/day).

What have others found to be successful and what kind of specimens did you see the most impact?

Again, I know there is much more than lighting conditions that goes into coral care, but lets put that aside for now!

Welcome to reef2reef! I run an xr15 pro over my 45 gal cube. I love the light. I have mine set to a 11 hour schedule (High Growth) setting. I gave the schedule a two hour ramp up and down with blues,rb,uv, and a slpash of red and green. I have a mixed reef and all my corals are happily embraced this light. I hope it can do the same for your corals @VTek

Your wireless probably needs to be reset. It happens to me occasionally when there is too many things going on in the house ( ie, streaming movies, gaming consoles, etc ).

If you lose connection a lot I would try different channels or adjusting other available settings. Ever since I ditched the crappy apex with their solution for the reeflink I've been doing great.. Anyways, that's a gripe for another time.

Have the 30's myself, best thing to do is keep your white/red/greens turned down. Some have other stories but I've never turned them above 25% and LPs/sps/softies do just fine.

Normally, unplugging the ReefLink for 15-30 seconds and plugging it back in will do the trick.

Just give it some time for the blue circle to reappear then try logging in again.

If that doesn't work first then yes, resetting your router should do it also. IME, trying the first solution saves time and keeps all your other devices connected. [emoji4]

I would go for the XR30 gen 3 with wide angle lens.

Your mean is 120 degree lens instead of 80,Right?
Also I think that Radion xr 15w pro good for 24*24 inches tank.

Guys, please help! What templates or schedules are you running with your Radions? You can go in depth (preferred) or leave it simple. Please make sure to include your intensities!!

For a new Radion use, I would use the acclimation program for 3-4 weeks.
Starting at 35%-40% and go to 65% total intensity.
I like 2 different programs. One is the Radiant program.
The other is the High Growth program, but I change that up a little.
On the 2 high points, I click on those and change the color to a 20k look.
Then I go half way in between and click on the graph line to create another point and make it a 16k color.

So your maximum intensity is 65%?

I have mine on my DT for about 13 months and currently running the 'deep reef' template at 60%. Since i just got a few new frags, i have set up 1 week acclimation period where the acclimation intensity is 50%.

Yeah. It's on my mixed reef.
When I had a gen 3 on a lps/sps tank I went to 70%, but never higher.

Yes, initially when i got my Radions, I ran them around 75% but after some research, I read to keep them lower (50-70%). Since then i have dropped them to 60% on the deep reef template and since i have just put in a few monti's I had also set a 1 week acclimation period of 50%. I would love to set and customize my own personal schedule instead of using a template but do not have much experience with this, nor do i own a PAR meter which is why i created this thread!!
